Joyce started by borrowing a camera to photograph small events. Now, she’s photographed heads of state. The shift didn’t happen overnight. In the beginning, she had the training and the drive, but not the tools. Like so many young women trying to break into media, she was caught in a cycle that’s hard to escape. No camera meant no portfolio. No portfolio meant no paid work.
