Hello Yello is LIVE this summer in Vancouver

Summer in Vancouver is getting friendlier now that Hello Yello has found a home for their summer pop up. At last year’s Battle of the Brands hosted by Brand’s for Better Foundation, winning concept, Hello Yello committed to battling loneliness and isolation, making Vancouver a friendlier city one conversation at a time. They’re doing that now with a pop up space this summer in Kitsilano, a beachside community in Vancouver. With a core team of 12 people, and an extended volunteer team of 30, the team is growing (and needs more volunteers!) as they begin turning their winning concept into a reality.

“It’s an exciting period of forward momentum for us at Hello Yello,” shares Emma Rendell, Marketing Manager for Yello Hello.  “We have spent the last few months building out our systems, doing research, recruiting volunteers and building awareness. Now we are diving into summer full steam ahead with some fun events and initiatives in the lead up to our Hello Yello Pop Up Space this July and August!”

The team is launching a Hello Yello pop up space for two weeks from July 28- August 11. This free, public, neighborhood space will encourage passers-by to stop and chat. The purpose of the pop up is to test-drive their core idea of the ‘yello bench’ – a bench that signifies willingness and openness to connect and converse. The concept aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness by sparking and facilitating connection, chit chat and meaningful conversations between strangers, or friends who haven’t met yet.

“I’m sure like most Vancouverites at this time of year, yellow is making us think of sunshine, warmth, openness, a feeling of possibility and adventure,” continues Rendell. “Summertime in Vancouver is such a magical time – the city comes alive, the parks and beaches are full – we think it’s the perfect time to launch our first campaign.”

The Hello Yello team is currently looking for 80-100 volunteers to populate the Hello Yello pop up space in Kitsilano, on the west side of Vancouver, this summer. The pop will run from July 28th – August 11th in the neighborhood plaza at West 4th and Maple Street, facilitating a space where spontaneous connection and conversation is encouraged.

Hello Yello is also looking to connect and build partnerships with local companies and initiatives to reach a wider local audience. To support, partner or volunteer visit their website www.helloyello.club
